I thought it would be fun to post links to digital archives/archival material that people might explore during isolation. It's nice to connect to pieces of the past that exist out there, somewhere, and continue to exist, even when we can't go visit them in person. As I compiled this it just basically turned into an ad for the Internet Archive, and enlivened me -- there is SO MUCH to find and enjoy there, including Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times... Please jump in to edit this post and add your own (I think you can do this? Blogger is ever mystifying to me...if you can't, just post them in the comments). Here are a few to start:
Reading
Eclipse Archive: lots of cool authors to read!
Prelinger Library -- browse this unusual private library digitally
Listening
PennSound: writers reading and discussing their work
Free Audiobook Archive
Omfg an "Old Time Radio" archive
Watching
Lost Landscapes by Rick Prelinger -- compiled B-roll, home movies, and snippets of film create fascinating soundless portraits of "lost" San Francisco, LA, Detroit, etc. (Link here is to Lost Landscapes of SF #7, but search here or on YouTube for way more.)
